zac and manami: Pasco Trip

First, I want to thank everyone for their kind words, thoughts and prayers since the disaster in Japan. I am so grateful my family is safe and well. I hope and pray for people who have been affected by this earthquake.

I was planning to go to Japan right around when the earthquake happened. But we decided it just wasn't the right time to go. Since we decided to stay, Ruby offered to take us to Pasco, WA to watch barrel race. I have never gone to watch Vauna barrel race before and I was so excited!

日本に３月の終わりから行く予定でいたのですが、今回はキャンセルしてまたの機会にと日本行きを伸ばすことにしました。で、行かないことを知ったザックのおばあちゃんが、私たちをワシントン州のパスコというところへBARREL　RACEを観に連れて行ってくれるとの事！ザックのステップマームはそのレースで、結構すごいらしく、アメリカ中いろんなところで勝っているらしい。今まで、まだ経験のない事だったのですごくうれしかったです！　　

で、パスコまでは片道約１０時間ということで、行きは途中のボイシーで一晩とまることに。ホテルの駐車場でうれしそうに遊ぶ怜君。

Kellen loves outside! we stayed in Boise on the way to ease the trip for Kellen. Well, mostly for us so that Kellen will behave in the car better. And everywhere we stoped for a break, he would find rocks and throw them. Kellen loves rocks!

怜君は石を投げるのが大好き。どこか止まるたびに石を見つけて投げてました。

ここでも・・・。　　そして、パスコについてからも早速、石投げ・・・。下の写真は、ホテルの前にある水の出てる大きな石の上に石を投げて乗せようとしてるようす。結構上手になって、小さな石をいくつか乗せてました。何個か水の出てきてる穴の中にもいれてました。壊れなければいいのですが・・・。

In front of the hotel we stayed at, there was three fountains that looked like big rocks and kellen loved throwing rocks on top of the fountain. He got a couple of rocks to stay on top plus he made a couple into the hole where the water was coming out from. i hope he didn't break the fountain...

I got Kellen a dog backpack with a leash on it so that he would not run away at an airport. This was my life saver on this trip because there were people and horses everywhere! So everywhere we went, he had it on!

上の写真は、怜君が飛行場でどっか行かないように買ったもの。ワンちゃんのリュックに長い尻尾がついたもの。すごく役立ちました。人や馬がいっぱいいたので、外へ出るたびに使いました。

下の写真は旅行中の朝の様子。風が結構強く、ホテルの前に立つ旗が勢いよく動いているのを指を刺しておばあちゃんと一緒に観ていた怜君。かもめも飛んでいました。また、レースに参加する人たちのキャンプトレーラーや、馬たちも前の駐車場に止まってたので、怜君は大興奮。

Kellen loved to look out the window with grandma! He would look at birds and flags flying in the air. He also loved looking at animals down in a big parking lot where all the trailers and horses were.

And in between races, we went to see Randy and Vauna. Kellen found a spot with dirt and was having so much fun playing in it. When we were all sitting on the grassy area talking, Kellen picked up a pretty big rock and has it in his hand. Some how, Vauna knew he was going to throw it and as soon as she ducked, he threw it right above her head. If she hadn't ducked, he would have hit her right between her eyes! No one knew he had a rock or was going to throw it except Vauna. I am so glad it didn't hit her.

レースの合間にザックのお父さんと義理のお母さんに会いに行きました。怜君はよい遊び場をみつけて、砂で遊んだりもできました。みんなで、芝生の上で座っておしゃべりをしていたとき、突然怜君が結構大きな石をザックのお母さんめがけて投げました。ザックのお母さんはマトリクスのように石をよけて、くるのなんとなくわかってたと笑ってました。私は怜君が石を持っていたことも知らず、本当に申し訳ないとちょっと恥ずかしかったです。ほんと、すみません・・・。　　ホテルでは、何回かプールにも行きました。怜君泳ぐの大好きで、何かあるとすぐ、”SWIM, SWIM!”　と浮き輪を私に持ってきました。水も怖くないみたいで、何度も顔をくっつけたり、バシャバシャ自分や私たちにかけて楽しんでました。

Kellen loves swimming! Whenever we were back in our room, he would bring the floating tube and say "swim, swim!". We went swimming a couple of times there and he absolutely loved it and had a blast swimming.

Another thing he loved to see on this trip was the huge tracters. Whenever they would come out to even out the dirt in the arena, he would yell and say "Go, Go!". And when the races began, he would get upset and would point at the tracters on the side and told them to come out.

この旅行の中で、怜君が一番興奮したのは、大きなトラクターでした。レースの間に土を平らにするため、大きなトラクターが何台か出てくるたびに、”GO! GO!"とさけんでいました。で、トラクターが終わって、退場していくと、出てこいと怒っていました。本当は馬を観にきたのに、怜君はレースよりもトラクターが良かったみたい。
